Overview
The Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Hyderabad offers the following BTech programs:

BTech in Electrical Engineering
This is the flagship four-year programme covering circuits, electronics, power systems, control systems, signal processing and communications — with electives across all EE research streams.

BTech in Electrical Engineering (IC Design and Technology)
This program creates industry-ready undergraduate manpower for the Integrated Circuits (IC) design and IC manufacturing industry. The focus of the program is on electronics, VLSI, semiconductors, nanoelectronics devices and packaging.
Admission Process
How to Apply
Admission to the BTech programs is through the IIT Joint Entrance Examination, conducted in two stages every year:
JEE Main
All candidates must first appear for and qualify JEE (Main), conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Qualifying JEE (Main) is a prerequisite for appearing in JEE (Advanced). See the JEE Main website for eligibility, registration, and exam details.
JEE Advanced
Candidates who qualify JEE (Main) within the eligible cutoff can register for JEE (Advanced), the exam used for admission to the IITs. See the JEE Advanced website for eligibility, registration, and exam details.
Research Areas
Specialisation Streams
While the BTech curriculum is common to all students in the early years, the department's research groups span four broad specialisation streams that shape later electives, projects, and potential higher-studies directions:

Communications, Signal Processing and Learning (CSPL)
Communication systems, signal processing, and machine learning, spanning wireless networks, speech and image processing, and AI-driven approaches.

Microelectronics and VLSI Design
Semiconductor devices and integrated circuit design, from nanoelectronics to analog/digital/mixed-signal VLSI systems.

Power Electronics and Power Systems (PEPS)
Power electronics, power systems, renewable energy integration, and electric drives.

Systems and Control (SysCon)
Control systems, automation, robotics, and their application to dynamic systems.
