Contents
The course content includes:
1. Introduction to The Internet of Things (IoT): Concepts and Definitions, History, Importance, Challenges, Requirements, Functionalists, and structure of IOT, IoT enabling technologies, IoT communication and networking protocols, IoT services and applications, IoT Standards, Connectivity, Various applications/smart objects, Major Players/Industry, Communication technologies;
2. IoT Node Architecture: System Level – Main Components with detailed description, Microcontroller, Communication (RF) Module, Sensors (depending on application) and signal conditioning, Memory, Power Supply, Battery, Management, Energy Harvesting;
3. Iot Network architecture: Topology/Network Structure, Power Management, Physical, Queuing theory: Markov chains, MAC modelling, Routing, IEEE 802.15.4 Standard and ZigBee, Synchronization;
4. Handson with Iot platforms (Arduino based experiments) : Interfacing, data acquisition and data transfer of LED, IR obstacle sensor, motion sensor, temperature sensor, ultrasonic sensor.
