Syllabus

The syllabus for the written test and interview is available in the EE MTech admissions brochure.

Reporting

The candidates must report to the venue (room CLH2, Academic Block C, IIT Hyderabad) at 8:15am on 9th July 2025. Please carry a photo identity card (issued by the government) for identity verification. Please also carry certificates relevant to your MTech application.

The room for the written test (which will be held in Academic Block C) will be intimated to you at the time of reporting.

Written Tests

The written tests will be conducted in the forenoon session (approximately 9:00am till 12:30pm) of 9th July. Some candidates who have been shortlisted under more than one research specialization can write the tests for the shortlisted specializations within this 3-hour time window. The test for each specialization will be approximately 1 hour long. Please note that candidates will not be allowed to exit the exam room for the duration of the written test unless they have completed the tests for all the specializations they have been shortlisted under.

Information about the shortlist (for written test) is available in the EE Web page (MTech RA, MTech-SS).

We recommend carrying a blue ballpoint pen, a transparent water bottle, and a scientific calculator for the written tests. No phones, electronic devices, smart watches etc. are allowed during the written tests. Please ensure that your phones are in silent mode and are kept away from your person (preferably inside your bag) during the test.

Lunch Break

The break will be approximately between 12:30pm and 2pm. Candidates can have lunch (on payment basis, using UPI payment) from the student’s mess. There are other food options available near the new hostel blocks (a Udipi-style food stall, and a pizzeria) and near the "wet canteen" area (near "old hostel blocks").

Interviews

Candidates will be shortlisted for the interviews based on their performance in the written test. The shortlists will be prepared for each specialization stream independently. The results of the written test will be made available online in the EE Web page and offline near the waiting room.

The schedule and the venue of the interviews will be announced approximately at the end of the lunch break.

Candidates shortlisted under multiple specializations must attend the interview for each specialization separately. Please note that each specialization might require you to meet more than one interview panel.

Accommodation

A limited number of rooms are available on campus (in student hostels and in the guesthouse) for the duration of the written test and interviews, i.e., from the night of 8th July to the night of 10th July only. Candidates are not allowed to stay back on campus beyond this duration.
